Lauren Addicott

As an Associate Editor with Word Factory, I help to manage our online presence and grow the community of short story lovers through social media. I came across the organisation as an English graduate looking to get involved with the professional world of authors and books. After my first short story salon experience in the barn of the Bloomsbury Group’s Charleston Farmhouse, I was completely enchanted by the welcoming, creative environment that Cathy had created.

After completing an MA in Creative and Critical Writing at University of Sussex in 2014, I adopted Brighton as my home and have relished working with numerous local creative salons, both as an organiser and performer. I like to dip my toe in all genres but I mainly write short stories and poetry, some of which can be found alongside book reviews and other morsels on my site.

I found my feet in social media marketing at an agency where I worked with companies of all shapes and sizes as a copywriter, brand developer and digital marketing consultant. While I define myself as a writer (small w), I’m most passionate about sharing good writing and celebrating beautiful books, and so ultimately my goal is a career in the publishing industry.
